All-Time Record Truck Sales Push American Honda Sales Up in March
All-time record light truck sales allowed American Honda to finish March with overall sales of 104,713 vehicles, up 2.1 percent compared to March 2001 based on a daily selling rate, according to figures released today by American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
American Honda total light truck sales of 33,664 increased 27.3 percent, topping the previous record set in December 2001. The Honda Odyssey, CR-V and Acura MDX all set sales records in March. Honda Odyssey sales of 15,020 vehicles increased 24 percent from March 2001, while CR-V sales of 13,722 units were 52.1 percent higher than the same period last year. With sales of 5,083, Acura MDX sales increased 21 percent for the month.
"Light trucks pace the momentum as the auto industry heads into the second quarter of the year," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president. "At this point, the only limit on light truck sales is product availability."
