Acura Announces Prices on New 2002 3.2 TL Sedan

Acura today announced pricing of its new 2002 3.2 TL luxury performance sedan. The fully featured 3.2 TL is priced at $28,880, an increase of $330 or 1.2 percent, and the new high-performance Type-S is $31, 230. An optional satellite-linked Acura Navigation System is available for $2000.

For 2002, the 3.2 TL builds on its class-leading position with more than 500 changes. And to further enhance the TL's sporty character, a new high-performance Type-S version has been added featuring a high-output engine, sport-tuned suspension, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and 17-inch all-season high-performance tires.

The TL's appearance has been significantly enhanced for 2002 with a completely redesigned front end that includes an aggressive grille, reshaped HID headlights, redesigned bumper fascia, revised badging and standard fog lights. The TL's taillights have clear upper lenses for a new look.

Both models feature an all-aluminum 3.2-liter, 24-valve V-6 with Acura's patented Variable Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) system coupled to a 5-speed automatic transmission with sequential SportShift that allows the driver, if desired, to shift gears semi-manually. The 3.2 TL features 225 horsepower while the Type-S model produces an even more impressive 260 horsepower -- the highest output in its class.

Comfort and luxury features also received generous upgrades. Additional standard features include a new 6-disc in-dash CD changer for the Acura/BoseY Music System, auto-up driver's window and a two-position memory system for the driver's seat and mirrors. The cockpit of the new TL Type-S is trimmed with deeply bolstered perforated-leather seats, steering wheel and "Type-S" shift knob and a metallic-face instrument cluster.

The DVD-based, Acura Satellite-Linked Navigation System is the only factory-installed option available on the fully appointed TL. Using mapping data of the continental Unites States and triangulation information from orbiting Global Positioning System (GPS) satellites, the system can direct the driver to any 3.7 million points of interest.

The TL also delivers its impressive performance while also achieving very low tailpipe emissions. Both the 3.2 TL and TL Type-S models are classified as Low Emission Vehicles (LEV) in all 50 states. In addition, the California-model 3.2 TL meets the even more stringent Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) requirements. Both models achieve an EPA estimated 19 mpg in the city and 29 mpg in highway driving.

Acura's dedication to occupant safety and security is reflected in the TL's dual-stage front airbags and side airbags for the driver and front passenger. The front passenger's seat contains a side airbag cutoff system with sensors to detect the height and position of the occupant prior to deployment. If a child (or small-statured adult) is leaning into the deployment path, the cutoff system prevents the side airbag from deploying and a "side airbag" light on the dash will alert the driver.

Like all Acura models, the 2002 TL is covered by a comprehensive 4-year/50,000 mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty. Additional ownership benefits include Acura Total Luxury Care (TLC), which provides free 24-hour roadside assistance, concierge service, and trip routing.

Acura offers a full line of premium performance vehicles through a nationwide network of nearly 260 dealers. The Acura line-up features six distinctive models including the exotic NSX supercar, the 3.5 RL flagship luxury sedan, the best-selling 3.2 TL luxury performance sedan, the 3.2 CL luxury performance coupe, the sporty Integra, and the revolutionary MDX sport utility vehicle.
