RealTime Racing Acuras Earn Top-10 Runs In Utah Doubleheader

  • RealTime Racing Acura TLX GT has finished in top 10 in 13 of year's 17 races.
  • Peter Cunningham places eighth on Saturday, Ryan Eversley was ninth Sunday
  • Cunningham qualifies seventh for weekend's opening race

RealTime Racing hung another pair of solid finishes on the board this weekend at Miller Motorsports Park, putting one of its Acura TLX GT racers in the top-10 for each of the weekend's Pirelli World Challenge events at the Utah road course.

Team owner/driver Peter Cunningham opened the weekend in strong fashion for the RealTime squad, qualifying his Acura TLX GT seventh for Saturday's event. The winningest driver in the history of the series, Cunningham made his starting spot stand up, running in a tight lead group throughout the 26-lap race before placing eighth at the checkered flag. His teammate, Ryan Eversley, fought back after a tough start, fending off Olivier Beretta's Ferrari to hold onto the 11th spot.

"Our Acura TLX GTs continue to improve. Both our qualifying and race pace has ratcheted up throughout the season," Cunningham said. "This weekend's results were solid, but certainly not where we want to be. Hats off to RealTime and HPD for providing us with great and reliable cars once again. We are back on track in only five days in Sonoma, but the guys should have everything turned around and ready for action!"

The RealTime duo reversed roles in Sunday's nightcap, as Eversley used a strong launch from the starting line to move from 12th on the grid to place ninth. Cunningham started 10th and finished off a solid weekend with an 11th-place result. The Wisconsin-based team's efforts marked the 13th time in the year's 17 GT class events that at least one RealTime Acura TLX GT has scored a top-10 finish.

"All in all it was a good weekend for the Acura Motorsports program. We are pleased with our improvement in competitiveness this week," said Program Senior Engineer Lee Niffenegger. "It was very tight racing from fourth to 14th.  We came away with a pair of Top 10 results, and two other finishes just outside the Top 10. On a weekend where everyone had great reliability which featured nearly all green-flag racing, those are very solid results.  We can now look forward to the California races and trying to find a couple of tenths of a second to move even further up the order."

After having a nearly a full month to prepare for Utah, the RealTime Racing team has a quick turnaround to deal with, as it heads to Sonoma, California this weekend for Rounds 18 and 19 of the 20-race 2015 season. Both Eversley and Cunningham have a chance to finish the season in the top-10 in the final point standings, with races at Sonoma and Laguna Seca ending the year.

"We came to Salt Lake City with a few new things to try on our Acura TLXs and I couldn't be happier with how the car performed!" Eversley reported. "I'm very grateful to everyone at RealTime Racing and HPD. They've honestly improved the car every single weekend this year. Before this race I wasn't sure how we'd fare at the last few events, but with our performance at Miller, I'm pretty excited for the Sonoma race!"

Developed from the production Acura TLX by HPD and RealTime Racing, the Acura TLX GT features HPD chassis and aerodynamic performance parts approved for Pirelli World Challenge competition.  It is powered by a direct-injected, twin-turbocharged V6 engine, developed by HPD from the production TLX, and will utilize all-wheel drive, as found in Acura's SH-AWD system.
