Honda Captures Top Spots in Edmunds.com True Cost To Own(SM) Annual Survey

Edmunds.com recognized four Honda models as having the lowest cost of ownership in their respective segments with the Civic Coupe, Civic Sedan, CR-V and Odyssey leading the way for Honda.

Edmunds.com, a premier online resource for consumer automotive information, publishes a list of cars annually with the lowest cost of ownership from 25 different segments using calculations generated by the company's proprietary True Cost to Own(SM)(TCO) tool. The TCO tool estimates the five-year cost of owning a vehicle in seven major areas including depreciation, insurance, financing, taxes and fees, fuel, maintenance and repairs.

"Informed consumers know that purchase price is only one factor to consider when evaluating overall vehicle ownership costs," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "The Edmunds.com True Cost to Own tool can help consumers make more intelligent choices."

For 2004, Edmunds.com's TCO tool has determined the following Honda and Acura vehicles to have the lowest relative ownership costs in the following segments:

  • Honda Civic Coupe: Coupe Under $25,000;
  • Honda Civic Sedan: Sedan Under $25,000;
  • Honda CR-V: SUV Under $25,000; and
  • Honda Odyssey: Minivan.
