The popular CR-V SE model introduced midway through the 2000 model year remains in the Honda lineup for 2001. The SE model offers leather trimmed interior and steering wheel, three-in-one AM/FM/Cassette/CD stereo system, body colored side moldings and bumpers, hard spare tire cover, privacy glass and a chrome accent grille.
Child safety seat tether anchors for the rear seats have been added to all models for 2001. Additional features that are standard on the 2001 CR-V include dual airbags; air conditioning with micron air filtration system; AM/FM stereo cassette system; power door locks, windows and mirrors; cruise control and rear window wiper/washer; illuminated power window switches and rear cup holders in the door panels. In addition, the EX model contains an AM/FM stereo CD system.
The CR-V is available in both 2-wheel drive (2WD) and 4-wheel drive (4WD) models. An all-aluminum 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, 16-valve DOHC (Dual Overhead Cam) engine powers the CR-V, generating 146-horsepower.
The CR-V 4WD models include Honda's revolutionary Real Time 4WD systems. The vehicle operates in front-wheel drive mode under normal driving conditions, providing a flawless, fuel-efficient performance. When Real Time identifies front wheel slippage or awkward road surfaces, it engages automatically to deliver power to all four wheels.
Convenience features that are distinctive to the CR-V include a fold-down center tray table located between the driver and passenger seats, and a rear cargo compartment cover that converts to a foldout picnic table.
The CR-V offers one of the largest interiors in its class with 98 cu. ft. of interior passenger volume. Headroom in the CR-V is equally generous, providing 40.5 inches in front and 39.1 inches in the rear.
