Statement by American Honda Regarding Tire Recall: 2021 Honda Pilot

  • 214 vehicles are affected in the United States
  • Vehicles will be inspected, and if a recalled tire is found, the tire will be replaced, for free
  • No reported crashes or injuries related to this issue

American Honda will voluntarily recall 214 Honda Pilot vehicles from the 2021 model year in the United States to inspect each vehicle’s tires, and if a recalled tire is found, replace it, for free. No related crashes or injuries have been reported in relation to this issue.

Fourteen tires were manufactured using an incorrect rubber curing process, supplied to Honda and subsequently installed on certain 2021 Honda Pilots. The sidewalls on the affected tires may rupture unexpectedly, resulting in reduced tire pressure or a belt edge separation, which could lead to tread/belt loss. Either condition increases the risk of a crash or injury. Based on Honda production records, 214 vehicles that potentially received one or more defective tires must be inspected by an authorized Honda dealer to complete the recall on each vehicle.

Honda is announcing this recall to encourage each owner of an affected vehicle to take it to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda. Mailed notification to owners will begin in early-Jan. 2021. Owners can also determine if their specific vehicles are included in the recall by visiting www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (888) 234-2138.
