Descriptive Information to include
- The basis for how the recall population was determined and
- How the recalled products differ from products that were not included in the recall
Enter descriptive information: The recall population was identified based on manufacturing records and includes: (1) vehicles previously recalled under NHTSA Campaign No. 20V-438, and (2) 2018 model year vehicles equipped with Magna rearview cameras that were previously addressed through a Product Update (PUD) Campaign for the same condition. Both the previous recall and the PUD remedy used redesigned Magna rearview cameras, which will be replaced by Sony rearview cameras for this remedy. The production range encompasses all vehicles that may have been manufactured with the affected rearview camera and, therefore, could experience the condition.

Defect / Noncompliance Description
Describe the defect or noncompliance: Water can enter the rearview camera assembly and cause the printed circuit board (PCB) to corrode. As a result, the rearview camera image can fail to display when the vehicle is in the reverse gear.
Describe the safety risk: If the rearview camera image fails to display when the vehicle is in the reverse gear, rearward visibility is reduced, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Describe the cause: The defect was caused by two contributing factors. First, the specification for the rearview camera housing boss hole was inadequate for the mounting screw. Second, due to variations in the positioning of the housing on the assembly jig, the mounting screw is susceptible to being misaligned during assembly. As a result, the stress generated during screw fastening exceeded the material strength of the boss, causing it to crack. Through environmental exposure (thermal expansion/freezing of trapped water), these cracks can expand, allowing water to penetrate the interior of the assembly.
Description of Remedy
Description of remedy program: Registered owners of all affected vehicles will be contacted by mail and asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda dealer. The dealer will replace the rearview camera with an improved part.
How remedy component differs from recalled component: The remedy components are produced by a different supplier.
Identify how/when the recall condition was corrected in production: The affected vehicles are no longer in production.
Recall Schedule
Describe the recall schedule for notifications: Dealer notification is scheduled to begin and end on or about 7/2/2026. Owner notification is scheduled to begin and end on or about 8/24/2026.
