Defect / Noncompliance Description

*Describe the defect or noncompliance:

If the vehicle is involved in a collision, the weld could break, causing the seat back position to fail, which can increase the risk of an injury.

Describe the cause:
During production, the protective lens of the laser welder became contaminated with weld spatter, inhibiting the welder’s monitoring system to detect and judge the laser input necessary to sufficiently complete the weld.

Describe the defect / noncompliance remedy program, including the manufacturer’s plan for reimbursement:
Registered owners of all affected vehicles will be contacted by mail and asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda dealer. The dealer will replace the front passenger seat back frame assembly with a non-defective part.
