Statement by American Honda Regarding Tire Recall: 2022 Honda Odyssey

  • 181 vehicles are affected in the United States
  • Tires will be inspected for manufacturing damage, and if such damage is found, the tire will be replaced for free
  • No reported crashes or injuries related to this issue

In the United States, American Honda will voluntarily recall 181 Honda Odyssey vehicles from the 2022 model year to inspect each vehicle’s tires in order to determine if one or more were damaged during the tire manufacturing process. If a recalled tire is found to be damaged, it will be replaced for free. No related crashes or injuries have been reported in relation to this issue, which was discovered during quality checks at the tire manufacturer.

A total of seven tires supplied to Honda and subsequently installed on certain 2022 Honda Odysseys potentially were damaged by a laser used to inscribe DOT codes on sidewalls. The sidewalls on the affected tires may have a pinhole that could result in unexpected, reduced tire pressure. Low tire pressure could affect vehicle handling and increase the risk of a crash or injury. Based on Honda production records, 181 vehicles that potentially received one or more defective tires at the factory will be inspected by an authorized Honda dealer to complete the recall.

Honda is announcing this recall to encourage each owner of an affected vehicle to take it to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda. Mailed notification to owners will begin in mid-Nov. 2021. Owners can also determine if their specific vehicles are included in the recall by visiting www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (888) 234-2138.
