American Honda Recalls Approximately 880,000 Honda and Acura Vehicles to Inspect Rear Subframes

  • Rear subframes may corrode in regions where de-icing agents are heavily used
  • Issue could increase risk of a crash or injury due to subframe corrosion causing mounting points for rear control arm or lower arm to fail
  • Authorized Honda and Acura dealerships will inspect the rear subframe, install a reinforcement kit and, if necessary, repair or replace affected rear subframe components

American Honda is voluntarily recalling approximately 880,000 Honda and Acura vehicles in the U.S. to inspect and, if necessary, repair or replace rear subframe components.

Vehicles operated in regions where de-icing agents are heavily used may experience corrosion at the rear subframe mounting points due to improper coating specifications, which could result in fracturing and failure of rear suspension components. As of May 28, 2026, Honda has had no warranty claims and no reports of injury or death related to this issue in the U.S.

Registered owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by mail and asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda or Acura dealer. The dealer will inspect the rear subframe, install a rear subframe reinforcement kit and, as necessary, repair or replace affected rear subframe components.

American Honda is announcing this recall to encourage owners of affected vehicles to take them to an authorized dealer for repair as soon as they receive notification. Owners of these vehicles can also determine if their vehicles require repair by visiting www.recalls.honda.com, www.recalls.acura.com, or by calling (888) 234-2138.
