Honda Voluntarily Repairing Approximately 1 Million Tire Repair Kits

  • Improper use of tire repair kits could lead to unexpected pressure release
  • Honda dealers will repair defective tire repair kits, free of charge
  • Owners who experience a flat tire prior to repair of the tire repair kit should contact Honda Roadside Assistance at (866) 864-5211

Honda is voluntarily recalling approximately 1 million tire repair kits (TRKs) installed in certain model year 2023-2026 Honda vehicles including the Accord Hybrid, CR-V Hybrid and CR-V e:FCEV.

If the TRK is operated with a nozzle that is not properly connected to the tire valve, pressure may build within the sealant bottle. If the relief valve does not release pressure as designed, excessive pressure may accumulate, potentially causing the bottle cap to detach, increasing the risk of injury.

Owners should not use their existing TRKs until they are repaired. Owners who experience a flat tire prior to repair should contact Honda Roadside Assistance at (866) 864-5211.

Honda Roadside Assistance is complimentary during the vehicle's 3-year/36,000-mile warranty period. In addition, Honda will extend complimentary roadside coverage for tire-related events beyond this period for all affected vehicles until the TRK is repaired or until repair parts are widely available.

As of May 28, Honda has received 53 warranty claims and 8 reports of an injury related to this issue in the U.S.

Honda is announcing this recall to encourage owners of affected vehicles to take them to an authorized dealer for repair as soon as they receive notification. Mailed notification will occur in July. Owners of impacted vehicles can also determine if their vehicles require repair by visiting www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (888) 234-2138.
