1. What's your favorite album (and why)?
I don't have one. For me, music needs to match my state of mind at the time, so it varies quite a lot.
2. What are your top-five on-the-road CDs (and why)?
Right now I have six CDs in my car: AC/DC, k.d. lang, Eva Cassidy, Bjorn Afzelius (Swedish), Totta (Swedish) and Kenny Wayne Sheperd. Sometimes I want to hear high-energy rock and roll and sometimes a ballad suits me fine.
3. What's the greatest guitar solo of all time?
For me, one of the greatest rock-and-roll guitarists is AC/DC's Angus Young. He brings out melodious riffs with an incredible energy. The solo in "Let There Be Rock" from the album "If You Want Blood You've Got It" I rank as one of the greatest. But I also have the highest regard for other great guitar players like Chicago blues man Hound Dog Taylor. To listen to his slide guitar is an incredible experience.
4. Which musician would have made the best race driver (and why)?
The Sex Pistols' Johnny Rotten. He does not have a driver's license, so he probably would not be the fastest on track, but he sure would have brought some interesting character to the sport, which we need.
5. Who would you most like to make a road trip with (and why)?
It would be interesting going with somebody like Angus Young so he could teach me about his style of guitar playing, but I am not sure it would be a good thing for a race driver. We need to maintain a good physical health and razor-sharp senses at all times. So I'd go with Sheryl Crow. I like her music a lot and I am sure she would be nice company as well.
6. Who's your musical hero?
Chuck Berry. He pretty much invented rock and roll. Although more refined in this day and age, his style of riffs and playing are still found in most modern rock and roll. Berry was my guitar hero growing up in Sweden, and the Kenny Brack & the Subwoofers set list would not be complete without Johnny B. Goode. It's a tribute to the man who invented rock-and-roll guitar.
7. What and when was the first concert you attended? I saw Rod Stewart in Stockholm in the late 1980's. Rod opened his shirt on the right side of the stage, and paramedics had to carry out two women who fainted on the spot. You can say that hooked me on rock and roll right there.
8. What's the last CD you bought?
The soundtrack from the movie "Shallow Hal." One of the latest is a CD from Lynyrd Skynyrd. I had to learn to play "Sweet Home Alabama." Lynyrd Skynyrd's Ed King, who wrote the song, is sitting in with us on our next show.
9. Does a race-car engine make music or noise?
Noise. But so does good rock-and-roll music.
10. What kind of music do you refuse to listen to? I don't refuse to listen to anything, but I am not big on classical things like Mozart. I have a hard time identifying with it.
