Honda honored 33 power equipment suppliers for excellence in supplying parts and materials at the 2018 Honda Power Equipment Supplier Conference in Greensboro, N.C., attended by representatives from 87 companies.
Honda Power Equipment (HPE) purchased more than $265 million in parts and materials from 170 OEM suppliers in 2017, supporting sales of more than 3 million Honda power equipment products in North America. HPE produces lawnmowers, mini-tillers, snow throwers, string trimmers, water pumps, general-purpose engines and generators in Swepsonville, N.C.
"Our ability to create high quality and award-winning Honda power equipment products that bring joy to our customers is the direct result of our collaborative work with our suppliers," said Mike Neal, division manager of purchasing at Honda Power Equipment. "We value our suppliers and the role they play in bringing new ideas and value to our business."
Honda honored 33 suppliers for outstanding achievement in the categories of quality and on-time delivery. One supplier, Celina Aluminum Precision Technology Inc. in Celina, Ohio, earned the President's Award for exhibiting superior performance across all of Honda's key business characteristics.
Honda Manufacturing in the U.S.
Honda has one of the largest and most diverse U.S. manufacturing footprints of any international company operating in America. Honda has been producing automobiles in America for more than 35 years and currently operates 12 major U.S. manufacturing facilities, employing more than 20,000 associates in the production of Honda and Acura automobiles, Honda power equipment products, Honda powersports products, the HondaJet advanced light jet and GE Honda HF120 turbofan engines.
In 2017, Honda produced 1.2 million automobiles in the United States, and 65 percent of all Honda and Acura automobiles sold in the U.S. were made locally, using domestic and globally sourced parts.
Cumulatively, Honda has invested more than $20 billion in its U.S. sales, manufacturing and R&D operations, including more than $4 billion in new manufacturing investment over the past four years.
