Honda Enhances Its Trimmer Lineup with the New HHT31S

The new Honda HHT31S hand held trimmer replaces the UMK431 as the next generation of Honda's most powerful trimmer model, and joins the all-new lightweight HHT25S trimmer in Honda Power Equipment's 2003 lineup.

The HHT31S is aimed squarely at meeting the rigorous demands of commercial, rental, and residential users and will be available through Honda Power Equipment dealers and rental outlets. Despite substantial improvements, there will be no price increase over the UMK431.

"The objective was to respond to customer feedback and make our flagship trimmer even stronger," said Dennis Blanton of Honda product planning. "It's an example of Honda's commitment to continuous improvement and consistent value."

The HHT31 uses Honda's proven 1.5 horsepower, 360 inclinable GX31 mini four-stroke engine known for its low noise level, low vibration level, and ease of starting. Through the use of advanced technology, it can be continuously operated and stored in any position. Because of the engine's strong low-end torque characteristics, many jobs can be performed at partial throttle, further reducing noise and increasing fuel efficiency - a substantial advantage over the trimmer's two-stroke competition.

The new Honda trimmer will be available in two configurations; the HHT31SLTA with a traditional loop handle, and the HHT31SUNBA with a U-shaped bicycle-style handle for increased leverage and precise control.

Setting the HHT31S apart from its predecessor is Honda's new Flex Shaft system that uses advanced materials for reduced weight. Compared to conventional solid shaft systems, Flex Shaft offers:

  • Strongest torsional strength in the industry
  • Longer life through ability to absorb shock
  • Decreased operator fatigue through ability to absorb shock
  • Easy disassembly for maintenance
  • Ability to operate even with slight tube damage

Other features of the HHT31S include:

  • New debris deflector shield for increased operator visibility
  • Quiet Line for a 5 decibel noise reduction
  • Soft touch loop handle for operator comfort
  • Standard shoulder harness and safety goggles

In keeping with Honda's tradition of technological and environmental leadership, all Honda trimmers meet or exceed emission standards of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) with the four-stroke technology that is at the heart of its reputation for unparalleled durability, quality and reliability. In addition, Honda trimmers do not require the mixing of gas and oil, which provides for greatly reduced emissions, increased efficiency, and a reduction in opportunity for operator error.
