Honda ProZision™ Autonomous Battery-Powered ZTR Lawn Mower: Features & Benefits

The Honda ProZision™ Autonomous battery-powered ZTR lawn mower, capable of operating in manual or autonomous mode, offers an eco-conscious, zero-emissions turf management option and provides more flexibility in how landscapers service their customers. Built on the same platform as the Honda ProZision™ 60-inch manually operated ZTR lawn mower, the ProZision™ Autonomous model—the Honda HZA60RXB—addresses issues including worker safety and labor shortages, ultimately improving the efficiency of lawn care and landscape maintenance companies while delivering premium mowing performance.

Best-in-class Cut Quality
Cutting performance is at the heart of the ProZision™ Autonomous battery-powered ZTR lawn mower design. From advanced blade geometry to an optimized deck housing, every detail is engineered to achieve a smooth, uniform finish while reducing clumping and ensuring efficiency in demanding conditions. With no need to mow twice or add a mulching kit, the mower delivers a clean, beautiful cut that keeps turf looking its best and customers fully satisfied.

  • The mower features a cutting width of 60" and an optimized cutting deck design for ideal airflow, grass lift, and efficient clipping discharge.
  • Three pairs of Honda-exclusive, stacked and offset 21" MicroCut® Twin Blades with 12 total cutting edges (per revolution) provide superior cut quality and finer clippings for a high level of grass shredding without clumping and with no extra mulching kit required.
  • The HZA60RXB is equipped with a load control system that automatically adjusts mowing speed to maintain professional cut quality; for example, under heavy loads, the mower slows to provide a clean, complete cut on the first pass, reducing the risk of uncut grass and grass clogging.
  • The motors provide sufficient power to mow at higher speeds while still achieving superior cut quality: forward speeds of 0 mph-10 mph; reverse speeds of 0 mph-5 mph; and mowing speeds of 0 mph-6 mph.
    • Depending on the cutting conditions, operator can select between two different blade speed options using the mower's display panel.
    • Blade speeds on the HZA60RXB range from 2876 rpm for the low setting and 3042 rpm for the high setting.
  • A wheel slip suppression system helps eliminate deviation from the intended path by independently controlling the speed of each drive motor. This ensures precise, straight-line tracking and stable operation—even on grades or rough ground.
    • The ProZision Autonomous can operate on a 15-degree hill in manual mode, or on a 10-degree hill in autonomous mode.
  • Rear discharge cleanly disperses the fine clippings, directing debris backward rather than sideways, reducing the risk of hitting nearby objects or people during autonomous operation.
  • ProZision™ Autonomous wheels provide enhanced maneuverability and stability:
    • Caster type, offset wheels are positioned to avoid pressing grass flat ahead of the blades, helping ensure a clean, even cut without uncut streaks.
    • Anti-scalp wheels help prevent the deck from bottoming out and damaging turf when crossing mounds or dips.
  • The electronic height adjustment allows the user to easily select the preferred cutting height—a key function for autonomous operation when no operator is present—making it simple to achieve the desired cut finish.

Cut height settings range between 1.5 inches to 5.25 inches.

User Experience
Autonomous Operation
The ProZision™ Autonomous combines high-obstacle detection and location accuracy with industry-leading cutting performance and superior operator comfort. For autonomous operation, the lawn mower acquires the mowing routes and patterns set by the operator.

  • The ProZision™ Autonomous is controlled via the Honda web application on a tablet or smartphone, enabling easy connectivity and control.
  • Teaching Mode enables users to create a mowing route using the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) for accurate location recognition; once established, the mowing route can be stored on the Honda Motor cloud server.
  • Automatic route optimization recalculates for better turns and coverage, providing consistent and stable grass-cutting quality on the first pass.
  • Playback mode allows the mower to reproduce the operator's prebuilt mowing route—duplicating the performance of the most skilled worker, while freeing up their time to focus on more high-value tasks and improving overall efficiency.
  • Omnidirectional sensing provides a full 360-degree view, allowing the Autonomous ZTR to detect obstacles slowing and resuming (or stopping) when encountering objects:
    • Four radar sensors: one on each corner—use radio waves to detect and determine the range, direction and speed of an object.
    • Four LiDAR sensors: three in front and one at the rear—use laser light to detect and determine the range, direction and speed of an object.
  • Two GNSS receivers: on the rollover protective structure—calculate the precise position of the mower.
  • A Telematics Control Unit sends and receives data such as vehicle speed and location.
  • Emergency Stop capabilities allow an operator to shut down the mower:
  • A handheld remote e-stop device.
  • Two separate buttons positioned on rear of mower, one on each side.
  • The ProZision™ Autonomous mower also is designed for high security, protecting owner data and protecting against theft.
  • The mower is protected by dual authentication: a physical key and a digital passcode are required to start the vehicle.

Manual Operation
Designed not only for autonomous operation, but also with the operator in mind, the ProZision™ Autonomous mower combines intuitive controls, ergonomic seating, and advanced handling systems to make manual mowing easier and more comfortable. Thoughtful design features reduce fatigue, enhance maneuverability, and allow operators of any height and weight to work efficiently in manual mode, whether navigating large open landscapes or tight areas.

  • A 4.3-inch touch-control display screen is easy-to-read, even in bright sunlight.
    • The full-color display provides a complete overview of the mower's status and operation, including data on blade height setting, seat setting, handle lever position, operating mode, time elapsed since maintenance, battery state of charge, key-on hours of operation, degree of slope, communications status, and any error code.
  • Headlights allow for operation during low light conditions, and a signal light indicates on/off status or, in the autonomous mode, if an obstacle is detected.
  • Easy-to-operate manual switches control functions including stop/on, manual or autonomous operation, blades on/off, and emergency stop normal/stop.
  • Three different driving modes (Rapid, Normal, and Precise) allow the operator to control mower speed for optimal maneuverability on a variety of turf conditions.
  • Rapid: offers the most sensitive controls and enables maximum ground speed; this setting is to be used only for large, smooth mowing areas with minimal bumps.
  • Normal: appropriate for most mowing conditions; operation levers are less sensitive than the Rapid profile—providing additional control while still allowing for maximum ground speed.
  • Precise: ideal for smaller mowing areas or those that require tight turns when maneuvering around flower beds or other obstacles; the mower's maximum speed is reduced in this profile to provide additional control when the operation levers are moved fully forward or backward.
  • Footrest position, handle grips, and location of controls are similar to layouts of traditional ZTRs, for an easy and comfortable transition.
    • The Honda industry-exclusive Ideal Operator Position System (IOPS) allows the operator to adjust seat position, drive controls and handles together in one easy movement. Drive controls move with the seat, adjusting to comfortably fit drivers of varying heights.
  • Safety features also include a mechanically actuated, electro-magnetically released parking brake that automatically engages when the control levers are apart and releases as they are pulled together for operation.
  • The low center of gravity increases traction and overall stability, especially on slopes, and ditch navigation is made easy because of the ground clearance and bumper overhang design.
