Honda Power Equipment Launches New Generators for Rental, Commercial, and Residential Markets

Honda Power Equipment will debut new, more rugged, EB/EM series generators that offer increased feature content at a reduced price in order to enhance its already prominent position in rental, commercial, and residential markets, the company recently announced.

The new EM and EB generators, in 3800, 5000, and 6500-watt sizes, will be available through Honda Power Equipment dealers in early 2004. Pricing for the new generators has just been released; it will be below that of outgoing models, furthering Honda's already strong value proposition.

"Rental and commercial markets comprise the core of our generator business," said Tom Pernice of Honda Generator product planning. "And we are committed to delivering the performance, quality, and dependability that our customers rely on to grow their businesses."

The new EB series generators will be ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) protected to meet OSHA jobsite regulations, while the EM series deluxe models are featured for home standby use with electric start, remote start capability, and simultaneous DC charging. Otherwise, the two generators share the same basic architecture.

A tougher appearance characterizes the new design, while additional changes and improvements over the outgoing models include:

  • Larger, heavy duty, 27mm frame tubing
  • 6.6 gallon fuel tank for a 30 percent increase in running time
  • Fuel gauge
  • Redesigned outlet panel with easy service access
  • Additional duplex outlet for increased convenience
  • Redesigned handles for easier transport
  • Increased bumper protection to minimize transport damage
  • Reinforced standing legs for increased durability

Honda's GX series commercial grade overhead valve (OHV) engines, known for their exceptional durability, reliability, ease of starting, and fuel efficiency, power all three sizes. These GX engines, in conjunction with unique mufflers and air filters, also contribute to the generators' quiet operation. Rounding out the feature package are a standard wheel kit, automatic voltage regulator, auto throttle, and a 120/240 voltage selector switch.

In keeping with Honda's tradition of environmental leadership, Honda generators meet or exceed all CARB and EPA 2006 emission regulations.
