Honda Power Equipment Launches New General Purpose Construction Pumps

Honda Power Equipment announces the introduction of new WB series water pumps for commercial and rental applications that deliver the brand's renowned premium performance and quality at a reduced price. The new WB20 and WB30 pumps will be available nationwide through Honda Power Equipment dealers in early 2004.

The Honda WB series will replace the outgoing WN, WP, and WD general-purpose pumps, consolidating the model lineup, and simplifying the purchase process for customers.

"The goal of this project was to further increase value while maintaining a leadership position in durability, reliability, and performance," said Tom Pernice of Honda product planning. "The new WB pumps will give our customers everything they expect from Honda and at price they might not expect from us."

Honda GX160 and GX120 overhead valve (OHV) engines power the WB30 and WB20 pumps, respectively, delivering the reliable, easy to start, commercial grade power that Hondas are known for. The engines feature Oil Alert® to help prevent damage due to oil starvation.

To maximize durability, the new Honda pumps feature:

  • heavy-duty full frame protection;
  • a rigid-mounted cast iron pump volute;
  • an abrasive resistant silicone-carbide mechanical seal.

Additionally, high-performance mounts minimize vibration between the engine/pump unit and the frame.
The Honda WB30 delivers a maximum discharge capacity of 275 gallons per minute (gpm), and a maximum head of 83 feet, while the WB20 is able to discharge up to 153 gpm with a maximum head of 94 feet.
