Honda HRX Lawnmower Press Kit - XENOY® Deck

Xenoy®, produced by General Electric for Honda cars and lawnmowers, is a versatile thermoplastic alloy blend of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and polycarbonate (PC). This product family offers exceptional chemical and corrosion resistance, great impact resistance even at low temperatures, heat resistance, and outstanding aesthetics as well as flow characteristics. Because of its exceptional durability, Xenoy is used in the manufacture of a variety of goods such as luggage and even football helmets.

Xenoy's unique properties make it ideal for the HRX™ mower decking and even automotive bumpers like those on Honda's new Element and the Acura TL. In order to demonstrate Xenoy's indestructible nature, experts at Honda recently attempted to crush the Xenoy lawnmower deck by driving over it in a Honda Pilot, a 4,439 pound SUV. The attempt was unsuccessful and the Xenoy proved its superior strength.

Xenoy resins offer:

  • Very good balance of chemical and mechanical properties
  • Low temperature impact strength
  • Weatherability
  • Heat resistance: RTI up to 284oF or 140oC
  • UV stability
  • Color retention
  • Lubricity
  • Zero corrosion
  • Easily moldable to achieve maximum air flow characteristics

The all-new HRX lawnmower deck is constructed of advanced and extremely durable Xenoy material that does not dent, rust, or corrode over time. The deck has been lengthened for better balance when the bag is full, is 28 percent more rigid for enhanced maneuverability, and features tighter blade/deck tolerances for more efficient cutting.
