Honda Power Equipment Debuts the FC600 Mid-tine Tiller

A new mid-tine tiller model will join the Honda line-up for 2005 the company announced today. With the introduction of the FC600, all of Honda's tiller offerings become exclusively commercial grade, and aimed squarely at the commercial, rental, and residential markets.

Replacing Honda's extremely popular FG500 and F501 mid-tine tillers, the FC600 will be available through Honda Power Equipment dealers early in 2005 with an MSRP of $1,139.00.

"While the F501 was a very successful tiller for us, we listened to our customers' comments and feedback, and incorporated many of their suggestions into a new product that's truly commercial grade," said Kris Delaney of Honda lawn and garden product planning. "We find that residential customers respond positively to commercial grade products, while professional landscapers and rental yards require them."

Product improvements characterizing the new FC600 include simplified operation to aid the many first time users of rental tillers. For example, an easier one-touch transport wheel can be engaged or disengaged with one hand without the use of tools. Honda engineers also have simplified the drag bar hardware, and a single-piece reinforced handlebar means no parts to lose.

Consistent with the FC600's commercial grade design, a new front guard minimizes the potential for damage during transport, functions as an attachment point for tie-downs, and acts as a convenient carry handle. A new heavy-duty fender protects the drive belt cover and increases resistance to rocks and debris, while new tine axle seal guards and updated axle seals minimize the likelihood of transmission contamination. A strengthened engine mount increases tiller rigidity and durability. Finally, a commercial grade fuel cap greatly extends service life with frequent use.

The FC600 tills soil quickly, smoothly, and efficiently with tines that measure 14 inches in diameter and deliver a tilling width of 26.3 inches. Driving the tines is Honda's GX series commercial grade engine, known for its durability, reliability, fuel efficiency, and ease of starting. The engine features a new corrosion resistant muffler protector designed for the rigors of commercial use.
