Jon Ikeda is the vice president and Acura Brand Officer representing the Acura Brand Office of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (AHM), with responsibility for leading execution of Acura's business plan and considering the next stage in the advancement of the brand.
Inspired by a then new Acura brand that had been established in 1986, Ikeda began his career with Honda R&D Americas in fall 1989, joining the start-up of a new advanced design studio in Tokyo as one of the first designers from outside Japan to join the styling team.
While learning Honda's design and management culture, he contributed to a wide range of projects over his 6-year stay in Japan, ranging from the award-winning Honda FSX show car to the production development of the 1996 Acura RL.
Ikeda rejoined Honda R&D Americas in Los Angeles in 1995 and over the next 15 years, was actively involved in numerous production and research projects, including serving as the design Project Leader for the 2001 Civic Coupe. Notably, Ikeda also penned and led the design team in the development of the 2004 Acura TL, the best-selling Acura model of all time.
From 2004 to 2013, Ikeda was focused on the Acura brand and design, which included his leadership role in creating the Acura Design Studio.
In July 2015, Ikeda joined American Honda Motor Co. as the vice president and general manager of the Acura Division, overseeing all Acura brand sales, marketing and service operations in the United States.
Ikeda assumed his role as Acura Brand Officer on April 1, 2019.
Ikeda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Design from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.
