Noriya Kaihara

President & CEO, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. and Chief Officer, Regional Operations (North America), Honda Motor Co., Ltd.

Noriya Kaihara is the president & CEO and director of American Honda Motor Co., Inc., (AHM), and the chief officer of Regional Operations (North America) for parent company Honda Motor Co., Ltd.

Kaihara joined Honda in 1984, spending much of his early career in the Service Division of Honda Motor Co.

Kaihara worked on assignment in North America at Honda Canada from 2002 to 2004 supporting Automobile Service. He moved to the U.S. in 2004 where he supported AHM’s Parts, Service & Technical Division for four years.

In 2008, Kaihara returned to Japan as general manager of Customer Service Operations in the Motorcycle Service Division. 

In 2010, he became general manager of Customer Service Operations for the Parts Sales and Service Division.

In 2012, Kaihara became general manager of the Automobile Quality Assurance Division.

In April 2013, he was named an operating officer of Honda Motor Co. and served concurrently as the company’s chief quality officer. He became an operating officer and director in June 2013.

In 2014, Kaihara was named chief officer, Customer Service Operations, of Honda Motor Co., and took on the adiditonal role of head of Service Supervisory Unit for Automobile Operations.

In 2016, he became chief officer, Customer First Operations of Honda Motor Co. and also served as an operating officer beginning in 2017.

In 2018, Kaihara was named a managing officer and chief officer of Purchasing Operations of Honda Motor Co.

In 2020, he became head of the Business Supervisory Unit, Automobile Operations of Honda Motor Co., Ltd.

In April 2021, he became chief officer, Customer First Operations, and was named the risk management officer of Honda Motor Co. He became a managing executive officer in June.

Kaihara assumed his current positions on October 1, 2021.
