2005 Civic Offers All-New, Sport-Inspired, Special Edition Package

The Civic lineup continues the tradition of delivering superb value, refinement and sporting character in the compact car class for the 2005 model year. On the heels of significant exterior enhancements in 2004 to the Civic Coupe and Sedan, Honda will add two Special Edition models to its Civic lineup for 2005. Unique features of the Special Edition Civic Sedan and Special Edition Civic Coupe include:

  • An upgraded audio head unit that not only adds in-dash 6-disc changer capability, but will also play MP3's and includes an auxiliary input jack for convenient plug-in of portable music devices and satellite radio receivers
  • An exclusive, leather wrapped steering wheel
  • Exclusive alloy wheels
  • Body color wing spoiler
  • Special Edition badging

Carried over from the 2004 model year is the very popular Civic Value Package. The Value Package, based on the DX trim level, adds air conditioning, CD player and a center console with armrest and storage on both Coupe and Sedan body styles, resulting in a savings of approximately $500.

For the 2004 model year, both the Civic Coupe and Civic Sedan received freshened exterior styling - including redesigned front and rear bumpers, hood, headlights and front grille - imbuing the Civic with a stronger stance and a bolder, more aggressive personality.

Other significant upgrades carried over from last year include enhanced sound dampening and improved audio speakers on all models, standard keyless entry on LX models and standard floormats on all LX's and EX's. On the Sedan with EX trim level, 15" alloy wheels became standard equipment. For the LX model Coupe and Sedan, wheel size increased to 15" from 14". For 2005, the Sedan lineup features a new Tango Red, replacing Radiant Ruby Pearl.

The 2005 Honda Civic is offered with a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission. The sporty and economical Civic HX Coupe is available with either a 5-speed manual transmission or an automatic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). The environmentally conscious, gasoline-electric powered Civic Hybrid and sporty, performance-oriented Civic Si round out the Civic family.

The natural gas powered Civic GX, dubbed the "cleanest internal combustion engine in the world" by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), returns for 2005 with similarly updated styling as the Civic Sedan. Carryover enhancements from the 2004 model year include a console with armrest and storage bin, and standard equipment floormats. Last year the GX's stereo also received improved front speakers and added keyless entry as standard equipment.

The 2004 Honda Civic retains its position as an environmental leader in the small car category. All Civic Sedan and Civic Coupe models are rated as Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) in all 50 states, while the natural gas-powered Civic GX and the gas-electric Civic Hybrid are the first vehicles to meet California's stringent "Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle" or AT-PZEV requirements.

All Civic Sedan and Coupe models come equipped with a host of advanced safety feature. The Civic Coupe is the only affordable compact class car to earn a five-star rating for all passengers in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) frontal and side impact crash tests.
