HISTORY

Introduced for the 1993 model year as the FourTrax 90, Honda's smallest ATV featured roomy ergonomics, a smooth-running 89cc four-stroke engine and a four-speed semiautomatic transmission. For 2006, the model received a significant update that added electric start, TRX450R-inspired bodywork, a redesigned handlebar and front brake lever, revised suspension settings and other changes aimed at improving rider comfort and ease of use. Since then, updates have focused mainly on colors and graphics, while the model has consistently proven to be a favorite among young riders and families, thanks to its durability, simplicity and rider-friendly performance.

DESIGN / STYLING

Stylish, sport-inspired graphics, color-matched front shock springs and blacked-out wheels give the TRX90X its sporty looks.

ENGINE / DRIVETRAIN

Honda's reliable 86cc SOHC four-stroke engine offers a smooth spread of power that's both rider-friendly and enjoyable on the trail. Bore and stroke are 47.0mm and 49.5mm, respectively, while the compression ratio is 9.2:1. Induction is managed by a 16mm piston-valve carburetor, and the ignition is a DC-CDI.

The TRX90X offers the best of both worlds for new Red Riders: an automatic clutch for simple starting and stopping, and a four-speed semiautomatic transmission so that young riders can learn to shift with the foot lever.

Push-button electric start gets every ride off to an easy beginning, and a keyed ignition ensures parents or guardians can decide who gets to ride and when.

CHASSIS / SUSPENSION

The TRX90X has an overall length of 58.6 inches and a wheelbase of 38.7 inches. The seat height is a low 26.0 inches, and ground clearance is 3.9 inches, helping create a compact, approachable package for young riders.

Compliant rear-suspension action is accomplished via a single shock absorber delivering 2.6 inches of wheel travel, while independent front suspension with twin shock absorbers provides an identical 2.6 inches of wheel travel. Together, the suspension setup helps provide a comfortable, controlled ride on the trail.

Dual 110mm front drum brakes and a 140mm rear drum brake are operated via hand levers and provide straightforward, predictable braking for young riders.
