American Honda Posts Record Truck Sales in November

Powered by record sales of light truck models and a strong launch of the all-new 2004 Acura TL, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., posted November sales of 96,559 Honda and Acura vehicles, a 2.4 percent increase over year-ago totals. American Honda total vehicle sales of 1,248,200 are up 9.2 percent for the calendar year.

Record November sales for the Honda Pilot and Acura MDX sport utility vehicles, along with continuing strong demand for the Element and CR-V, drove American Honda light truck sales to a new November record of 39,673 units, up 9.4 percent for the month. Year-to-date, American Honda light truck sales are up 31.9 percent to 486,103 units.

Honda Division November sales of 82,136 units were virtually unchanged from last year on a daily selling rate basis, while year-to-date sales of Honda models jumped 10.3 percent to 1,092,819 for the year.

The Acura Division recorded its best November ever with sales of 14,423 units, up 24.7 percent from last year, and a 5.4 percent increase over the previous record set in November 2001. Year-to-date sales of Acura models rose 1.8 percent to 155,381 units. The 2004 Acura TL performance luxury sedan, launched in October, also posted record sales of 5,608 units, breaking the previous record of 5,233 set in November 2001.
