American Honda Reports June Sales Records

  • American Honda sets new June records for total vehicles and light trucks
  • Honda Division breaks the 100,000-unit barrier for first time in June
  • Acura Division posts 20th consecutive monthly sales record

Record June sales of Honda and Acura vehicles boosted American Honda Motor Co., Inc., to a new all-time record June performance of 126,416 cars and light trucks, an increase of 4.7 percent over last year on a daily selling rate basis. The company also posted its fifth straight month of record light truck sales, up 20.2 percent to 54,173 units in June. American Honda year-to-date sales totaled 692,364 units, up 1.6 for the first half of 2005, as the company continues on track toward its 12th consecutive year of sales increases.

Honda Division posted all-time record June sales of 107,672 vehicles, up 3.6 percent over year-ago results and marking the first time the Division has broken the 100,000-unit barrier in the month of June. Honda light truck sales rose 19.4 percent to a new June record of 48,376 units on best ever June sales of the Odyssey, Pilot and CR-V, and the addition of the all-new Ridgeline truck. June sales of Honda hybrid vehicles - Civic Hybrid, Accord Hybrid and Insight - jumped 53.4 percent to 3,001 vehicles from 1,881 units in June of last year. Year-to-date sales of hybrids rose 44.7 percent to 20,866 units, compared with 14,511 in 2004. Total Honda Division sales for the first half of 2005 rose 0.3 percent to 587,419 on a daily selling rate basis.

Acura Division posted its 20th consecutive month of record sales in June including best ever June results for its TSX, MDX and RL models. Acura's June sales jumped 11.4 percent to 18,744 units, the third-best month in the Division's 19-year history. Year-to-date sales of Acura cars and light trucks rose 9.2 percent to 104,945 units for the first half of the year.
