2024 Honda Rubicon 4X4 Automatic Features & Benefits

Updated and renamed for 2024, the Rubicon 4X4 Automatic (formerly known as the Rincon) remains Honda's largest-displacement ATV, and it's still big enough to be comfortable for even larger riders. Powered by the same engine that's in Honda's hardworking Pioneer 700 side-by-side, and boasting fresh styling thanks to a new grille, bodywork, meter, wheels and more, the Rubicon is known for its durability, thanks in part to a beltless transmission. It is also famously versatile; its long-travel, independent rear suspension makes it a great option for recreational activities such as relaxed or aggressive trail riding, hunting or fishing, but it's also very suitable for more utilitarian pursuits like chores around the property or farm. Combining premium quality and comfort with workhorse dependability and function, the Rubicon 4X4 Automatic is ready for anything.

(Due to emissions regulations, the 2024 Rubicon 4x4 Automatic is a 49-state model and is not for sale in California.)

NEW FOR 2024

  • New for the 2024 model year, Honda's largest ATV is now called the Rubicon 4X4 Automatic, aligning with Honda's 520cc dual-clutch-transmission Foreman Rubicon lineup.
  • Updated bodywork and graphics deliver new styling with a stronger, bolder form language, aligning with the look of the Foreman Rubicon. The front grille is new, as are the front and rear fenders, the right and left foot mud guards, the center cover and the skid plate.
  • While the Rubicon 4X4 Automatic was already known for its durability, it's even more robust for 2024, thanks to a tougher front bumper that offers additional headlight protection.
  • New cast-aluminum black wheels feature revised styling.
  • New Maxxis tires are larger than before (26 inches vs. 25 inches), delivering a smoother ride and .4-inch-higher ground clearance. The tires also have a more aggressive tread pattern, with additional lugs in the center and at the sides, delivering improved traction.
  • The new meter improves styling and increases visibility, with a larger LCD screen and a 16% increase in the size of the text that displays vehicle speed. The screen's background is now white rather than amber, for a better contrast that delivers improved viewing in direct sunlight. Functionality is also improved, thanks to the addition of a tachometer and voltmeter. In addition, a new hydrophilic antifog treatment reduces the likelihood of the screen fogging.
  • Improved lighting performance and functionality, thanks to a new LED assist light with high and low beams (a first-time application for a Honda ATV). The assist light rotates with the handlebar to provide a wider range of illuminated area. The taillights are new as well, with fresh styling.
  • Additional storage capacity, thanks to a new, 1.8 liter pocket that's appropriate for items like a water bottle, googles, tools or a ratchet strap.
  • Capacity of the front and rear racks is increased to 99 pounds and 187 pounds, respectively—50 percent and 42 percent more than with the previous year model.
  • Compatibility with Honda's extensive line of Pro-Connect accessories, including a multi-tool holder, rack extenders, utility basket and a cargo box.

STYLING / DESIGN
The updated styling outlined above delivers an exciting new look. In addition to the added storage capacity, the Rubicon 4x4 Automatic continues to come with a 5.2 liter storage box, suitable for items like beverages, googles, gloves, tools, a ratchet strap and more. For 2024, this model is offered in two bold colors: Avenger Red and Matte Silver Metallic.

CHASSIS / SUSPENSION
Equipped with independent rear suspension, the Rubicon 4x4 Automatic delivers a comfortable ride that makes trail riding a blast. Front and rear suspension-travel figures are 6.9 inches and 8.0 inches, respectively.

With the larger tires, ground clearance is now .4 inches higher, at 9.5 inches. Wheelbase is 50.6 inches, and the turning radius is 10.8 feet. The front and rear racks now have higher capacities of 99 pounds and 187 pounds, respectively.

ENGINE / DRIVETRAIN
Honda's largest-displacement ATV, the Rubicon 4x4 Automatic is powered by a powerful, liquid-cooled, 675cc single-cylinder engine with overhead valves and a semi-dry-sump design—the same engine from Honda's hardworking Pioneer 700 side-by-side. Its compact dimensions result in good ground clearance and a low center of gravity.

  • Thanks to Programed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) and a 40mm throttle body, the Rubicon 4X4 Automatic runs smoothly no matter what the elevation or meteorological conditions.
  • To help it operate at a cooler temperature, the fuel-injection unit has been relocated to a new location, away from the radiator heat.
  • The head has dual spark plugs for clean, thorough combustion and great fuel efficiency.
  • The Rubicon 4X4 Automatic has a tough, truck-style three-speed automatic transmission, so there's no belt to slip or clutch to wear out.
  • Three-speed transmission allows choice between automatic and manual shifting. With Electric Shift Program mode (ESP), manual gear changes are accomplished via handlebar-mounted push buttons—more easily actuated than a foot lever when riding with heavy boots.
  • Transmission has automatic and manual modes. In automatic mode, manual override shifting is now available in the new Rubicon.
  • Depending on the situation or riding conditions, the rider can easily select between two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive by utilizing TraxLok.
  • The engine is longitudinally mounted, with the crankshaft oriented in the direction of travel. This does away with unnecessary right angles in the drivetrain, reducing friction and efficiently transferring more power to the wheels.
  • With a catalytic converter, riders can protect the great outdoors while they're enjoying it.
  • New, larger 26-inch Maxxis tires, resulting in a .4-inch-higher ground clearance. With a more aggressive tread pattern (specifically additional lugs on both the center and sides), the tires offer improved traction.

WARRANTY: Transferable one-year limited warranty; extended coverage available with a Honda Protection Plan
