American Honda Reports March 2004 Sales

American Honda broke several records for March sales, including all-time record sales for the Acura Division and its all-new TL sedan, as well as record March sales for the Honda Pilot, Civic Hybrid and Acura MDX. March sales for American Honda cars and light trucks totaled 115,849.

The Honda Division recorded total vehicle sales of 98,564, with year-to-date sales reaching 266,230 units. Increased consumer interest in fuel-efficient vehicles drove Civic Hybrid sales to an all-time record of 2,725, an increase of 7.6 percent from the previous record month in March 2003. The Honda Pilot broke its previous March record, set in 2003, and marked its second best sales month ever with sales of 10,019 units.

Led by strong sales for the TL, TSX and MDX, Acura total vehicle sales for March were 17,285, up 4.8 percent from the previous all-time record-setting month in May 2003. Year-to-date sales for the Acura lineup totaled 45,571, a 26.8 percent increase over last year. March was an all-time best sales month for the Acura TL with sales of 7,310, an increase of 5.6 percent from the previous record set in March 2001. The MDX, with sales of 5,194, bested its previous March record set in 2002. The Acura TSX also had an extremely strong month with sales of 2,206 units.
