Honda Models Rated as 'Environmentally Sensitive'

Seven of American Honda's fourteen models were awarded Automotive Market Environmental Sensitivity (AMES) Awards from amesawards.com LLC and Edmunds.com. These awards were presented to Honda at the 2001 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

The Honda Accord took home the award for "Best Mid-Size," the S2000 was honored with the award for "Preferred Sports Car," and both the Honda Civic and Insight received the award for "Preferred Subcompact." The Acura TL was honored with the "Preferred Premium" award, the Acura CL was recognized as the "Preferred Luxury," and the MDX was named "Best Mid-Size SUV."

AMES Award's mission is to identify to the automotive consumer the brand/model providing the best balance of vehicle emissions, fuel economy and recycled material content in a vehicle utility class that will satisfy their individual transportation needs.

Tom Elliott and Robert Bienenfeld accept an "Environmental Sensitivity" award on behalf of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. from two AMES representatives at the North American International Auto Show.
