American Honda April Sales Results

American Honda April vehicle sales of 96,705 were down 2.9 percent from last April's record, according to sales figures released today by American Honda Motor Co., Inc. Year-to-date American Honda sales of 380,269 are running 4.0 percent of last year's all-time record pace.

Acura Division sales of 12,815 were up 6.3 percent from last year, topping the old April record of 12,716 units established in 1989. The TL luxury sports sedan recorded a new April sales record of 5,997 units, up 2.9%, and the MDX sports utility vehicle sold 2,852 units. On a calendar year basis, Acura Division sales are up 27.8 percent from last year.

Light truck sales set a new April record of 24,337, up 5.9 percent from last year. Both the Honda Insight and S2000 also set new April sales records, as the Insight recorded its best month ever.

"Even though our April sales were off slightly, it was still one of the ten best sales months in American Honda history," noted Dick Colliver, executive vice president of sales for American Honda. "The market is very competitive, but there are still plenty of people out shopping for cars and trucks."
