Honda Introduces the New HHT35S Trimmer

The new Honda HHT35S hand held trimmer replaces the HHT31S as the next generation of Honda's most powerful trimmer model, and joins the all-new lightweight HHT25S trimmer in Honda Power Equipment's lineup. The new trimmer uses the GX35 engine, a smaller, lighter, and more powerful than GX25 engine it replaces.

The HHT35S is aimed squarely at meeting the rigorous demands of commercial, rental, and residential users and is available through Honda Power Equipment dealers and rental outlets. Despite improvements including a more powerful engine, there will be no price increase over the HHT31S model.

"The objective was to respond to customer feedback and make our flagship trimmer even stronger," said Dennis Blanton of Honda product planning. "It's an example of Honda's commitment to continuous improvement and consistent value.

The HHT35S uses Honda's new 360o inclinable GX35 mini four-stroke engine known for its low noise level, low vibration level, and ease of starting. Smaller, lighter, and more powerful than the GX31 engine it replaces, this model effectively bridges the weight gap with the two-stroke competition while delivering all the advantages of a four-stroke engine. The new engine's oil-immersed timing belt and overhead-cam (OHC) architecture makes it possible to incorporate the valve train into the oil reservoir. This results in a substantial reduction in size and weight over the GX31, making it comparable to a competitive two-stroke engine in those areas as well as an ideal addition to Honda's hand-held power equipment models. As part of the new trimmer design, the GX35 engine also effectively bridges the weight gap with the two-stroke competition while delivering all the advantages of a four-stroke engine.

The new Honda trimmer will be available in two configurations; the HHT35SLTA with a traditional loop handle, and the HHT35SUKA with a U-shaped bicycle-style handle for increased leverage and precise control.

As part of its design, the new HHT35S trimmer also includes Honda's Flex Shaft system that uses advanced materials for reduced weight. Compared to conventional solid shaft systems, Flex Shaft offers:

  • Strongest torsional strength in the industry;
  • Longer life through ability to absorb shock;
  • Decreased operator fatigue through ability to absorb shock;
  • Easy disassembly for maintenance;
  • Ability to operate even with slight tube damage.

Other features of the HHT35S include:

  • New debris deflector shield for increased operator visibility;
  • Soft touch loop handle for operator comfort;
  • Standard shoulder harness and safety goggles.

In addition, Honda trimmers do not require the mixing of gas and oil, which provides for greatly reduced emissions, increased efficiency, and a reduction in opportunity for operator error.
