Entering its third model year, the 2002 Odyssey is considered the new minivan standard. The competition has launched a renewed challenge and as a result, the 2002 Odyssey will feature more changes than any mid-term model in Honda's history with an eye towards moving the Odyssey to an even higher standard. The current Odyssey minivan debuted as the largest Honda ever -- longer, wider and more powerful than its previous offering. The 2002 model is no different. Features that set the Odyssey apart from the minivan pack include:
- An increase from 210 to 240 horsepower
- An all-new 5-speed automatic transmission replaces the 4-speed
- Rear disc brakes are new and standard
- Side airbags are added and standard
- Minor front and rear styling changes and new LX and EX wheels
- Leather seating option
- Industry's first factory-installed DVD rear entertainment system
- Interior refinements include a host of new cup-holders, bag hooks, grab rails and other enhancements
- Redrock Pearl and Havasu Blue Pearl added
