Defect / Noncompliance Description

*Describe the defect or noncompliance:
The certification label located on the driver's side door jamb contains the incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR), and tire size. In addition, the label fails to meet the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567.

*Describe the safety risk:
If the operator refers to the incorrect tire information, the vehicle's tire could be replaced with the incorrect tire size and load rating, potentially increasing the risk of a crash.

Identify any warning which can precede or occur:
As the insufficient weld wears, the driver may hear a squeaking noise from the seat as an early warning prior to the weld breaking.

Describe the cause:
During a failure of the primary certification label printer, a backup label printer incorrectly printed information without being properly reset and configured for the US model.

Identify the Remedy

Describe the defect / noncompliance remedy program, including the manufacturer’s plan for reimbursement:
Registered owners of all affected vehicles will be contacted by mail and asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda dealer. The dealer will remove and replace the incorrect vehicle certification label with a correct label.

Owners who have paid to have these repairs completed at their own expense will be eligible for reimbursement, in accord with the recall reimbursement plan on file with NHTSA.

Identify the Recall Schedule

Describe the recall schedule for notifications:
Dealer notification is scheduled to begin and end on or about 7/28/2023. Owner notification is scheduled to begin on and end on or about 9/11/2023.
